The “Daughters of Al Nas Court No. 240” is an Auxiliary of the A.E.A.O.N.M.S. and are Daughters of Isis. Its membership is comprised of women from various walks of life, with some of its members being wives, and daughters of Nobles and Daughters of the Oasis of Havre de Grace, Desert of Maryland. The name Daughters of Isis is a reference to “Isis,” the Egyptian Goddess of the earth and moon, who was known to a be compassionate, protective, humane and clever deity.
In February of 2020, a group of ladies interested in becoming Daughters of the Imperial Court were assembled under the coordination and guidance of now Dt. Marcia Cooper-Stokes and with the encouragement of Past Potentates Noble Darryl Morrison, Noble Kevin Cosby, Sr., and Noble Kevin A. Dixon, Jr., of Al Nas Temple No. 255 in Havre de Grace, Maryland to learn about the A.E.A.O.N.M.S. and its auxiliary, The Imperial Court. As the group of ladies began to organize, they called themselves “The Ladies of Grace Study Club.” During this period, the Club did charitable work throughout the Harford County community and made connections with organizations that serve the Havre de Grace area specifically. Some of the efforts included providing 20 suitcases for children in foster care to Empowering Minds of MD Youth Suitcase Drive and distributing hats, gloves, scarves, and blankets to the 15 seniors/disabled residents at the Havre de Grace Housing Authority. In addition, The Ladies of Grace organized the distribution of food baskets for 60 families during the Christmas holiday season.
On January 26, 2021, The Ladies of Grace officially became known as the Al Nas Daughters Club under the declaration of Dt. Jaqueline Brown-Arradondo, the 48th Imperial Commandress. On April 10, 2021, 22 ladies were created as Daughters and formally became recognized as Al Nas Court UD, Oasis of Havre de Grace, Desert of Maryland after receiving instruction and guidance from the Imperial Deputy for the Desert of Maryland, Dt. Patricia McCoy-Lassiter. Al Nas Court received its official charter on May 23,
2021, under the leadership at that time of Dt. Marcia Cooper-Stokes, Illustrious Commandress, Dt. Julie Hynson, 1st Lieutenant Commandress, and Dt. Stacey Lee-Curbean, 2nd Lieutenant Commandress.
Al Nas Court No. 240 has proudly increased its membership to presently include 17 Daughters, 2 Associate Members and 3 Past Commandresses that include Dt. Julie Hynson (2022), Dt. Stacey Lee-Curbean (2023) and Dt. Courtney Garner (2024). Each Daughter has significantly shared of her time, talent, treasures and is also committed in her own way to the continued development and growth of Al Nas Court No. 240. Under the present leadership of Dt. Joyce Anthony, Illustrious Commandress, Al Nas Court is continuing to establish a noteworthy legacy within the Oasis of Havre de Grace and making a significant impact on the Harford County community. We are and will always be “The Ladies of Grace!”
